National Library Week 2007 RECAP:
All Ages Enjoyed Special Events At National Library Week Celebration!
This year’s National Library Week celebration was a huge success as hundreds of patrons came to enjoy games, contests, movies and a bargain-priced book sale! This year’s theme, “Lights, Camera, Read” highlighted books that became movies. The library’s mascot, Reggie the Reading Raccoon, was on hand to meet and greet our younger patrons, while pianist Wayne Richards provided show tunes for everyone’s listening pleasure. Proceeds from the book sale, which netted $197, were donated to the Children’s Home and Aid Society to put toward the cost of constructing a daycare center for low-income families.
Many patrons filled out a simple, five-question survey about the library. Answers to that survey will be used to better serve our patrons. Those who completed the survey were entered into a drawing to win their photo on a READ poster to be displayed in the library for six months. Congratulations to the following winners:
Mary Lou Szigeti – adult
Krupali Patel – teen Deahanne D’Aluio – youth
Whether you enjoyed our National Library Week celebration, or missed it altogether, we invite you to come next year as we celebrate libraries with a special event in the lobby!
