The library offers classes that are targeted for the “over 50″ audience and will introduce students to the basics of computing from the ground up at a gentler pace than the non-senior classes. The Hoffman Estates branch, located on Hassell Road, offers movies throughout the year. Movies start at 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM every Thursday night. Schaumburg Township Teens are celebrated this week with events throughout the community. At the library, teens going into grades 6-12 can pick up coupons for $10 off fines at the central library Reader’s Advisory Desk or at the Hoffman Estates or Hanover Park branch libraries. Guest speaker Ginger Frere will present “Mining the National Archives”.  The National Archives is a great source for genealogical resources, including a branch located in Chicago. During the month of August, the Schaumburg Township District Library will collect used cell phones as part of the Cell Phones for Soldiers recycling program.  Collected phones will be sold to ReCellular for recycling.  Proceeds will be used to buy prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops.  Phones may be dropped off in the Central Library lobby or at the branch libraries.
