The Music of Wayne Richards: A Celebration
Monday, April  11, 7 p.m.
Audiovisual Department

From the gold coast of Chicago, throughout the Midwest and to international ports of call, Wayne Richards has demonstrated his fine piano and vocal style in some of the most respected and popular venues. In addition to his respectable resume of engagements at such popular places as Pheasant Run Resort, Eagle Ridge Resort, Murray on Mackinac island and the Sheraton Stockholm, Richards deserves attention for some very solid contributions to the world of songwriting.

This year marks the maestro’s 35th year in the professional ranks of entertainment, and to celebrate we offer this specially prepared concert featuring an array of original compositions written for the adult contemporary market, documentaries and the stage.

In 1989, Richards released a recording titled "Mackinac Dreams," which has since become a well known anthem on the popular Michigan based island.

Working with videographer Rand Shackelton, Richards has written more than 15 original music scores for a variety of best selling documentaries, the latest of which is "Pure Antarctic," which is slated for Broadcast on the popular PBS series, NOVA.

Wayne Richards' first album, "All My Travels,"contains a collection of songs that have become fan favorites. "Rosie's Roadside Cafe", "66 is Still Alive" and "Roadside Attractions" are only a few of the selections slated for performance in this concert.

Richards has also composed a stage musical, "A Summer Storm," which had its first reader’s theatre production here at the library. Highlights will be featured.

Joining Richards will be drummer Rodney Harper and Wayne Jones on bass. Join us for this special event beginning at 7 pm. Show time is 90 minutes.

Seating is limited and will be available on a first-come,first-seated basis.  Wayne Richards accepts inquiries by calling (630) 213-8678 or e-mail to WAYNE RICHARDS

Jazzmin

Jazzmin
Monday, April 18, 7 p.m.

Audiovisual Department

Jazzmin was born in the late 1990's when three Chicago area musicians decided they needed a more avant-garde venue to play their improvisational music. Wide open improv music, an amazing synergy of performance and creative, interwoven melodic line characterize their approach.

Saxophonist Ron Koules received his first saxophone when he was 8- years-old. It has been an integral part of his life. His education includes degrees from DePaul University, Northern Illinois University and Northwestern University. He has worked as both a teacher and actor.  Ron also plays the saxophone with Seymour's Big Band, which will be a featured performance on Monday, Aug. 22 in Town Square.

Vibist Sam DiCesare began in music as a drummer. His work on the vibraphone is lyrical, powerful and frequently incandescent and is heavily influenced by Gary Burton and Milt Jackson.

Pianist Bob Villwock's keyboard efforts provide the foundation on which the tunes are built as well as exciting solo flights.  He is at home with bebop, progressive jazz and blues, and names Brubeck, Monk and Silver as his primary influences.

Bassist Erwin Yasukawa began his musical life as a trombonist. He has studied at Loop College, Columbia College and Northwestern University. His professional experience ranges from teaching bass to playing club dates, concerts, studio sessions for films and commercials and touring the Midwest and Europe with a variety of musical groups.

Seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-seated basis.  Ron
Koules accepts inquiries by calling (847) 356-2261 or by e-mail to Ronald Koules [ronk@avenew.com]
