The Random Ringers are a community handbell choir from Palatine, Illinois. Formed in 1990, the Random Ringers ring five octaves of Schulmerich Bells and 3 octaves of Mallmark Handchimes. Their director, Beth McFarland, has been involved with handbells for 20 years. She currently teaches piano and is the director of Joy Bells, a member of the Heritage Bells of UMC of Libertyville, and resides in Mundelein with her husband and daughter.

The Random Ringers are a 12-member ensemble committed to the art of handbell ringing. Performing both secular and religious music, the ringers strive for technical accuracy and good musicality along with sharing their love of handbells with the community. They performed in numerous places in the Northern Illinois area. Those include: Schaumburg Township District Library; Northern Illinois Springs Rings and the International Handbell Festival in Edmonton, Canada and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This performance will mark their seventh consecutive year at the Schaumburg Township District Library.  Seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-seated basis.

             December Programming

To My Dear STDL Friends...
It's that happy time of year again when we look around and find the world is simply glowing with joy of every kind. One of those joys is friendship, like the kind I share with all of you, a friendship that's a year-round gift. I wish you all simple pleasures, happy memories and every joy during this holiday season.
Sincerely,

Barbara Marik

2005 SUMMER CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS NOW ON THE INTERNET

Listeners who enjoyed the big band summer concert series at the Schaumburg Township District Library this past summer can now hear a special 100 minute version of those musical highlights on the  Internet. Entertainer Joan Hammel and her production assistant Anthony Skerbec of waukTOWNradio have graciously taken the original program disks and placed them on their Internet site.  Dick Gulbrandsen,  bandleader of the Limited Edition Big Band, prepared the disks for the site. The concert material will be available on
the site through December.

The website program features excerpts of the 13 area big band concerts that appeared at the summer programs. The show can be accessed by going to www.waukegan.org, and then choosing waukTOWNradio.  The site is dedicated to quality area entertainment. Midwest Ballroom, hosted by John Russell Ghrist originally broadcast a 57 minute version of the high lights in September. "I am very grateful to Joan, Tony and Dick for making these wonderful summer memories available to the public," John stated. Midwest Ballroom is heard every Saturday at 5 p.m. over WDCB 90.9 FM and worldwide at www.wdcb.org. Listeners may comment on the show at P.O. Box 1073 Dundee, IL 60118 or at midwestballroom@yahoo.com

A big thank you goes to Joan Hammel, Anthony Skerbec, bandleader, Dick Gulbrandsen of the Limited Edition Big Band and John Russell Ghrist for working on the summer concert series highlights placed on Joan Hammel's website.  It took a lot of work to compile all of this together.  We all have another chance to hear the great bands that were present in Town Square this past summer.
