New Arrivals in Audiovisual

MP3 Audio Books
MP3 CDs
PlayStation 2
XBox

The Schaumburg Township District Library Audiovisual Department has added new item types to its collection.

MP3 Audio Book

MP3 Audio Books are self-contained, self-playing digital audio books. Produced by Playaway Digital, this lightweight player with eight simple buttons. Wear it around your neck or stick it in your pocket. From novels to biographies, languages to business best sellers, Playaway comes already loaded with your favorite content.  These are not books on CD but unabridged, digitalized books that come in their own player. It fits into your pocket or purse and is perfect for plan rides, train rides, commutes on the "L", and doctors' waiting rooms.  It's smaller than an iPod and measuring aproximately 3 inches by 2 inches wide and about a quarter inch thick, the Playaway comes with batteries and a lanyard. All you have to do to listen is press play.

MP3CD

As of this writing, 17 MP3CDs are on order and can be reserved through the library website.  MP3 audio books on compact disc provide very high quality recordings and allow many hours of recording on a single MP3 disc.

Please remember, when using an MP3 on compact disc, your  CD player must be MP3 compatible.  MP3 audiobooks on CD can be played on newer CD and DVD players that support MP3 technology and accept a 4.75" diameter disc and on any personal computer that has Microsoft's Media Player or similar software.

Playstation 2 and XBox

Playstation 2 and XBox are games that entertain and educate.  Whether you're using an Xbox or PlayStation 2 game, there is a  selection available that's come with an ESRB rating. Almost all video games now come with these standard ratings that give a general idea of what age the game is suited for. The ratings translate as follows:
E  means Everyone, but is best for ages 6 and older.
T is the designation for Teen (13 and up).
NR means Not Rated.
