This event
is co-sponsored by
Larry and Dan's Marathon
Service Station (847) 895-3467
The Teddy Lee
Orchestra, under the direction of Teddy Lee Jr., has
roots in the dance band heritage reaching back to the 1930's. In
1990, Teddy Lee Jr. accepted the baton from his father, Teddy Lee
Sr., insuring the continuation of the orchestra's great tradition.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the orchestra with close to
10,000 performances since its inception.
The band provides a variety of listening and
dancing enjoyment through its inimitable style and vast custom
arrangements of classic tunes, waltzes, Latin, society, jazz and
Dixieland. Hit tunes of the big band era, show tunes and popular
songs of the great American song writers are all a part of the Teddy
Lee tradition.
 Teddy Lee with Peter Oprisko
Vocalist Peter
Oprisko, known as " Chicago 's singing sensation," is pictured with
Teddy Lee Jr. He will round out the variety of the orchestra to make
it a total big band experience. Often described as the next Frank
Sinatra, vocalist extraordinaire Peter Oprisko is
America
's best
crooner of pre-1975 adult popular standards that spans an amazing
2000-song repertoire ranging from swing, jazz and Latin gems to
ballads, Broadway classics and even country. His song stylings have
attracted many fans of all ages who enjoy great, timeless, quality
entertainment.
Over the years the
orchestra has played for tens of thousands and performed over 5000
engagements. Each year ends with Chicagoland's best interactive New
Years Eve party, held at the famous Willowbrook Ballroom. The
13-piece orchestra looks forward to entering its 47th year of
providing the best big band entertainment and dance music available
anywhere. The orchestra plays Chicago ballrooms, weddings, national big band
weekends and major charity/corporate events. They also appear
frequently at Navy Pier, Grant Park and Taste of
Chicago.
Fads, trends and entire
pop culture movements have come and gone since the inception of the
Teddy Lee Orchestra, but the band continues onward without
compromise. Their integrity, as much as their style, has helped them
build a loyal audience. It won't be long before the rest of the
world finds out what fans closer to Chicago already know.
A special thank you goes to Larry and
Dan's Marathon Service Station, located adjacent to the
library, for their generous support as a co-sponsor of this
event.

GOING ON
VACATION?
Have you ever considered checking out your library
materials for an extended period of time?
Before your vacation, plan on checking
out a spoken book or spoken CD when traveling by plane or
auto. We own more than 15,000 titles in our
spoken CD and spoken book collection. How about a favorite
video title? We have approximately 16,500 VHS videos from
which to choose. The popularity of DVD viewing when traveling is not
new to the public. DVD options have expanded to both the front and rear of
sedans, wagons and SUVs. Many people like to take a nice movie selection
to their final destination or better yet, in their vehicle just to
avoid that favorite question from children - "Are we there
yet?" The library owns 10,000+ DVDs. A vacation loan is
available throughout the year for most library materials. New
audiovisual material s, also known as developing collections, are not
included in vacation loans. Please inquire at the Audiovisual Information
Desk when selecting materials. Staff will assist you to the
shelves. Phone calls are welcome at (847) 923-3182.

swing, jazz, popular and entertaining music.
 Larry
Bemben
The Schaumburg Jazz Ensemble is unique in
many different ways: it was chosen to perform at an inaugural ball
for President George W. Bush; it is a
Schaumburg-based band that entertained at the 40th anniversary
celebration of Hoffman Estates and the incorporation of Sears
Prairie Stone; and it was chosen to perform at an inaugural ball for
the Governor of the State of Illinois, as well as many local
political events throughout the area and within the city of Chicago.
Additionally, t has been featured on radio station WAIT 850 am
and can be heard on WDCB 90.9 fm.
The classic sound of a big
band is reemerging with the resurgence of swing music. Come and hear
this classic ensemble. It will definitely leave a lasting
impression. The band will return to the library for the tenth
consecutive year.

Limited Edition Big
Band Vocalist: Julie
Creighton Monday, July 30 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Rain
date: Aug. 1
Dick Gulbrandsen's Limited Edition Big
Band
These 17 musicians,
many of whom are session players or members of other jazz, big band
or pop bands in the Chicago Metropolitan area, are a "cream of the
crop" ensemble. The Limited Edition Big
Band, Inc. has performed at most venues in the
Chicago
area and just finished
its 6th appearance on the main stage of the Naperville Rib
Fest.
Playing a variety of
locations, including private parties, formal dinner dances, clubs,
festivals and parades, the band has built up quite a following.
It has performed at the openings of several area night clubs,
including the Living Room in Schaumburg . In the spirit of the old time big bands,
the band rented a bus and traveled to southern
Illinois
to perform at the
Peoria Riverfront Jazz Festival. In January 2006, the band
played for dancing and also a jazz concert aboard the Mediteranea, a
Costa Cruise Line cruise ship.
The ages of the musicians range from 25 to
85, thereby mixing experience with youthful exuberance. Several of
the players have toured internationally with big stars. Dick
Daugherty, who plays lead alto sax, at one time toured with Henry
Mancini. Scott Fisher, trombonist, toured with the Ray Charles
ensemble in Italy . There are many fine soloists with the band
in all sections and they are frequently showcased. Limited
Edition also lays claim to a featured trumpet player, Cary
Davids, who moonlights as a nuclear physicist.
While the music of
greats like Count Basie are popular with the band, classics by Glenn
Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman also are well represented. Many
tunes from the "good old days" have been brought into the
present with new, modern arrangements.
 Julie Creighton
Julie
Creighton has been the vocalist with the Limited
Edition Big Band for the last seven years. She started as a
drummer and percussionist in 6th grade - skills she learned from
her late brother, drummer/bandleader, Tony Caselli.
Julie played all through high school in the jazz band led by
Paul Tolosko. She gave up the drums to focus on singing at 19 and
has been a vocalist ever since, except for taking a hiatus to
concentrate on motherhood. When Gloria Estefan was on Oprah
promoting her tune "Reach" for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, Julie
had the pleasure of being one of her backup singers for the show.
Julie is married to bandleader/musician Dave Creighton and has
enjoyed returning to her big band roots. She enjoys singing a
variety of vocal arrangements by revisiting some of the beautiful
timeless standards as well as more contemporary
material. | |
