Adult Programs
Persons with disabilities can arrange for special assistance by calling (847) 923-3347 two weeks prior to the program. Register at the central library Information/Magazines Desk (847) 923-3347 for all adult programs. Register for all adult excursions and other programs with fees in person or pay by credit card via telephone. Fees are non-refundable and are due at the time of registration. Trip refunds, less a $3 service fee, are furnished only when someone is found to take your place.

Enrich your summer by joining our Adult Summer Reading Program. Each participant must read eight (8) titles by the end of August. Everyone is eligible to participate in the reading program and receive a gift for completing the reading requirements. Genealogy Group
Tuesday, June 9 7:30-9:30 p.m. Adult Classroom
Join our breakout group discussions and share interest and expertise on a specific genealogical topic. Categories will include various ethnic groups, beginners and troubleshooting. And They Came to Chicago: The Italian American Legacy is an Emmy nominated, Telly-Award winning documentary tracing 150 years of the Italian American experience in Chicago. Clips of this film will be shown followed by a discussion led by award-winning writer, producer and director, Gia Marie Amella.

Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Road Plan

In Dave Clark’s presentation, look at Daniel Burnham’s and Edward Bennett’s concepts for road building that included grand boulevards as well as a system of radiating and encircling highways throughout Chicago and the suburbs.
