Youth Computer Classes
Persons with disabilities can arrange for special assistance by calling (847) 923-3439 two weeks prior to the program. The following classes take place in the Youth Services Computer Lab at the central library. All classes are one hour long and require registration. Please register in person by noon the preceding Friday at the Youth Services Information Desk. The cost is $5 per child, per program. Non-Schaumburg Township District Library cardholders may register for Youth Services computer classes. Classes in Microsoft applications use Office 2007. Hands-on computer practice is included with each class. |

| Introduction to Computers: Parent and Child

| Parents and children will get acquainted with the fundamentals of computers, including identifying parts of a computer, using the mouse, accessing age appropriate electronic resources and Internet sites, and printing. There must be one adult for each child. |

| This basic Microsoft Word class will teach you how to format your paper by setting margins, selecting fonts, aligning text, spacing and indenting. | Students will use Microsoft Publisher to learn designing, previewing, saving and printing greeting cards and signs. We will then edit the basic designs by adding clip art, using text boxes and borders and changing text and fonts. |

| Using Microsoft PowerPoint, students will practice creating a presentation which will then be edited by adding WordArt, clip art and animations; applying transitions; changing backgrounds; and adding, sorting or deleting slides. Students will also learn how to save and print handouts and slides and how to view or show their presentation. |
| Scanning and Editing Photos

| Learn how to scan photos into the computer. We will then edit photos using Photoshop Elements 2 to crop, adjust brightness, contrast, color and focus; remove red eye; add text; save; print; and paste the photo into a Word document. |
