Reserving Library Material
Follow the instructions below.....

  1. Click on the CATALOG button on the STDL home page.

    The Online Catalog page will appear:



  2. Enter a short description of the item you are searching for in the white text box, and
    Click on the Easy Search button:



    The Search Results page will appear listing a collection of recommended items owned by the library:

    A variety of information about each item will be displayed including the item's Call #, Author(s), Year of Publication, Title and often times a small graphic image of the item's cover along the right side of the item information box.


  3. Click on the Full Details button to display additional information about the selected item.


  4. If necessary, click on the Item Information tab along the top of the box.

    The Item Information page will be brought to the front displaying a variety of more detailed information about the item you selected:



  5. Are any copies of the item currently available?

    Within the center of the Item Information window a message will be displayed indicating whether copies of the specified item are currently available for circulation or if all of the copies are currently checked-out.

    In the example box below, note the Copy info: No copies currently available. message


    This message indicates that all of the copies of the desired item are either checked-out or on reserve for another library patron and as a result are not currently available.

    You may at this point Place a Hold on the item and you will be notified when the item has been returned and is available for you to check out.


  6. Click on the Place Hold icon.

    The Place Hold page will appear prompting you to enter specific information identifying you as a Schaumburg Township District Library cardholder and allowing you to specify the location where you would like to pickup the reserved item when it becomes available:




  7. Enter your Library card number:

    Click within the white text box beside the words Library card number: and enter your library card number, often referred to as a zebra #.

    In the example below, the Library card number 21257001112222 was entered.



  8. Select the desired Pickup Location:

    Click on the down arrow on the right side of the pickup at: dropdown menu box to display the menu of pickup locations, then highlight and click upon the the desired location.

    In the example below, the CENTRAL location is selected:




  9. Click on the Place Hold button.


  10. The system will respond with a message notifying you that the requested item has been reserved for you and you will be notified when the requested item has been returned and your turn in line arrives.
